Short Translations - Regesta of Original Documents in Turkish From the Vilajet Archive of the Oriental Institute in Sarajevo

Abstract

This article made it possible to see one part of the little known material of the former Vilajet Archive, ruined during the destruction of the Oriental Institute in Sarajevo 1992. With about 200.00 documents in the Archive, over 5 000 manuscript has gone into flames. Those were the original document of the Empire chanclery: fermans, berats, bujruldies, sijils and other documents written in ottoman - Turkish language. The beauty of calligraphic work is extraordinary and with great historical value. This Regesta- short translations, contain information about these documents, is why they are part of documentary memory of present and future generations. For careful reader, this Regesta will provide insight into the political, economic and cultural history of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and include period from 1277 (Hegira) : 1861 until 1294 (Hegira):1878 .
