Complex Research of Archival and Library Material in Country and Abroad With a View

Abstract

Until 1970s, research of archival and library material in archives and libraries of foreign states was partially conducted only for the needs of a sole thematic concept or a project. This was conducted by researchers for the needs of particular institutions or for personal needs for compilation of master and doctoral thesis. This kind of research was irrational, expensive and it yielded limited results due to the lack of cooperation between institutions of culture, each of which sent researches to foreign archives for its own purposes. Sometimes the same collections and funds were researched and even recorded more than once. 

This is why the Archive of Bosnia and Herzegovina, National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Oriental Institute and Institute for History devised and realized project for research, registration, microfilming and copying of archival and library material relating to Bosnia and Herzegovina which exists in foreign archives and libraries.
