Image Indexing in Image-Contetnt Databases

Abstract

As a result of increasing number of heritage collections as well as other collections of image contents in the digital network environment, emphasized interest for possibilities and techniques of image indexing in image-content databases is being manifested more and more. Intensive effort is given to evaluating advantage-disadvantage ratio between manual text-based image indexing and content-based image indexing. Alongside this, image information exchange standards are being improved, and the significance of development of indexing systems and image browser, necessary for successful usage of visual information on the Web, is being evaluated.
