Abstract
Academicic libraries represent an important segment of institutions they are part of, since they contribute to teaching, education, and upbringing, and at the same time they serve as foundation of scientific research work for professors and associates. Libraries do have support of institutions, but that support isnot adequate and sufficient even for basic needs. Libraries face new responsibilities and users' demands.
Implementation of the Bologna Process represents another challenge that Libraries will have to overcome. The article tries to draw attention to importance of academic libraries in 21st century as one of the irreplaceable segments in institutions of higher education. Furthermore, in accordance with all demands set before the libraries, a different kind of treatment is imposed in regard to these institutions by their parent faculties and universities.
