Abstract

Esteemed readers, dear associates, dear colleagues,

Allow me to address you with great honour and a deep sense of responsibility, on the occasion of the release of the 30th anniversary issue of our journal Bosniaca.

This number symbolises three decades of commitment—30 years of persistent work on preserving, thinking and promotion of librarianship, information sciences and documentary heritage. Being Editor-in-Chief in this historical moment, for a journal is a privilege that bears commitment and the biggest commitment is to maintain high standards of excellence that we made together.

Thirty issues of Bosniaca presents an indispensable scientific archive, chronicle of development of the profession in Bosnia and Herzegovina and wider regional context. From the first issue to this anniversary issue, the journal was and is a key forum for dialogue between tradition and innovation.

This success wouldn’t be possible without the vision and the dedication of those who created the foundation. Therefore, my duty and honour are to express special gratitude to all previous editors and members of former editorial boards. Their pioneer work, standard and perseverance in difficult times setting provided for Bosniaca to celebrate its 30th issue today. Their legacy is woven into every page of this magazine.

In this anniversary edition, we continue our mission, providing room for papers that cover most important topics:

Preservation of heritage in the digital age: How digitization transforms our approach to invaluable manuscripts and old printed editions, simultaneously ensuring their permanence.

Challenges of information literacy: In an age of accelerated flow of information and misinformation, the role of the librarian as navigator in knowledge becomes critical.

Future of the profession: Analysis of the application of artificial intelligence and advanced information systems in the work of modern libraries.

I will take this solemn opportunity to express most sincere gratitude to all authors, peer reviewers on their rigor and collective of the National and University Libraries of Bosnia and Herzegovina as publisher and constant support.

This anniversary issue does not look only back; it is an ode to the future. We invite you to look forward with us, to find inspiration for new research in the following papers and to stay faithful to the mission of scientific curiosity and critical thinking. I hope that you will enjoy every page of this solemn edition, which we proudly hand over to you.
