Abstract
Goal: The purpose of this article is to explore the application of entrepreneurial and managerial practices in modern libraries, with an emphasis on improving their efficiency and relevance in the digital age.
Approach/methodology/design: The article employs an analytical approach to illustrate how libraries can optimize their operations and provide higher-quality services to users and communities. The methodology includes a brief literature review on management and entrepreneurship and an analysis of specific examples of innovations in librarianship.
Results: The research shows that libraries implementing resource management methods, user-oriented approaches, innovative metrics for measuring success, and fostering a culture of innovation achieve significant improvements in efficiency and service quality. Additionally, the key challenges in introducing innovations, such as bureaucratic obstacles and a lack of market incentives, are highlighted.
Practical Implications: The findings can be applied to the development of strategies aimed at enhancing entrepreneurial spirit in libraries, such as developing new services, improving resource utilization, and advancing organizational culture. The recommendations are particularly valuable for libraries striving to improve their operations and adapt to the challenges of the digital age.
Social relevance: Strengthening the entrepreneurial spirit in libraries contributes to their long-term sustainability and societal relevance. This enables libraries to better meet user needs and adapt to rapid social changes, thereby contributing to cultural, educational, scientific, and overall societal development.
Originality/value: The article offers original insights into the application of entrepreneurial principles in public institutions like libraries, which are traditionally not associated with entrepreneurship. The value of this study lies in providing concrete guidelines for innovations and the enhancement of library services. This work can serve as a guide for managers and librarians, as well as policymakers in the fields of culture, education, and science.
