Cilj ovog rada je davanje osnovnih informacija o Internetu,·njegovoj·historiji, servisima i mogućnostima koje on pruža.·S obzirom na to da je ovaj informacioni i tehnološki fenomen još uvijek relativno nov na našim prostorima, tekst pruža osnovne postavke; terminologiju i servise ove mreže, teza svrhu ima uputiti novog korisnika kako se kretati po Internetu i koristiti njegove resurse. Ukratko su obrađeni najpopularniji servisi koji su od važnosti i za bibliotečko poslovanje.
