Abstract
This paper presents a study of usability of digital collections of oriental manuscripts through the evaluation of user interfaces of the British Library, the National Library of Turkey and the National and University Library in Zagreb. The aim is to explore how the user interfaces can be improved as the user-oriented structures. At the same time, the research provides insight into user behavior in redefined library and information environment, and points out the problems that users experience while accessing the digital collections. The research results can serve as a starting point for defining the guidelines of usability of the user interface for access to the digital collections of oriental manuscripts. User orientation, and ease of use as a medium for accessing digital collections has a greater impact on the intention to use these types of electronic resources. The study of the work should contribute o a better understanding of the process of creating the user interface and help in the simplicity of its use. Competitive environment of enabling access to digitally available information resources, stressed out the need for a positive user experience in interacting with the information system and user satisfaction while achieving the objectives, this enables libraries to retain users on their own network sites.
